Logo vs. Brand Identity: What Is the Difference?
Tectigon5 min read
Why a logo alone is not a brand – and what a complete identity includes.
The logo
The logo is the most compact recognition mark of a brand. It has to work at many sizes and in many contexts – from favicon to façade.
As important as it is, on its own it does not carry a brand.
The brand identity
The identity covers colour system, typography, imagery, tone of voice and design rules. It defines how a brand looks and sounds across every touchpoint.
Only this system makes an appearance recognisable and consistent.
What you need
For a professional presence you need both: a well-considered logo and a documented identity with templates for web, print and social media.
That keeps your presence consistent even when many people work on content.
